Rob,
My daughter doesn’t have to *find out* that she’s adopted–she’s Chinese and I’m white! Although “helpful” people, including adoptees (???) have told me to be sure to tell her.
Plenty of adoptees in Ohio are happy not to live in NYC! After all, everyone drives them round and they get their license when they’re 16.
well, your daughter totally lucked out in adoptive parent jackpot, she got adopted in nyc! ugh imagine living in like ohio AND finding out you were adopted!?!

im not really comparing adopting a child with adopting an animal tho, just thinking about how strange life is cuz there are times that i truly wish i was put into a foster home instead of being adopted by my grandparents, i wonder what kind of person id be today!?
Rob,
For several years (mostly ages 3-8) my daughter really grieved about not knowing anything about her birth family. Now she’s sort of put her thoughts in a box and closed it–too painful to think about while she’s busy being a NYC teen. But I know she’s considered your question from the other side. Either way, it’s tough to know that your original parent(s) couldn’t or wouldn’t keep you, no matter how you grew up. I’m sorry you have to wonder about this, and although my daughter is my heart, the very best and most important thing that ever happened to me, I’m certainly sorry that it hurts her so much even to think about it. (Not that sorry makes it better.)
