  1. Hi Dibs, I have the roofer coming Friday. And I have a fan pointed toward the ceiling – I realize that it needs to completely dry. I feel sorry for the tenant. How disruptive — it looks awful. She was very good about it but I would like to minimize the hassle for her. .

  2. I should say wet pieces of drywall FALLING!!!
(now there is a 2′ X 2′ patch where I pulled it down.)
As my grandmother used to say, “it’s a great life if you don’t weaken.

    Hi CGar.

  3. donatella, speaking from experience, if you have a roof leak, get it fixed ASAP. Also it will take some time…maybe 30 days or so before everything in the cocklofy dries out and you have no more paint or drywall issues. Do not fix the drywall and paint until everything has completely dried out.

  4. Will someone please remind me of how I am a priviledged member of the brownstone gentry again? At my office yesterday, I thought two things when the rain started:

    1) finally
    2) oh no

I have had an issue with water sheeting along the right back side of the building with heavy rain. (Getting a roofer to check this out had been on my list of things to do). Anyway, last night I fell asleep earlish after a lovely afternoon at the dentist and got a 10:30 pm wakeup call from tenant who had WET PIECES OF DRYWALL near where the problem is. Obviously, water was going into the masonry to her ceiling. I went up there and cleaned up a nasty mess and came back again this am to finish. Need to fix whatever is happening on the roof (will come Friday) and drywall the ceiling when it dries out.

    🙁
