I have no idea, to be honest. I got into it by accident – a journalist friend recommended me to a travel industry publication (not on the newsstand) while I was making my living as a freelance writer. Next thing I know I’m the “assistant cruise editor.”
That was in 1991. Since then, I’ve run into a bunch of travel writers, and they all have a different story about how they got started. There’s no clear path. Thing is, it’s an intoxicating experience and once you get into it’s hard to get out. The other thing is you’re not going to get rich doing it.
Agree 100% with Donatella (no surprise there, I suppose).
Yeah etson, you’re right – I read that also while doing my “homework.” Seems the ministers were misusing govt money.
Good thing we don’t have those sorts of problems here!
Donatella sounds like my mom! I agree with most of what she said, though, especially regarding’vintage’ clothing.
The best is when someone gets a tattoo of the man/woman they are dating and then they break up shortly thereafter.
“How can I get started in this field?!”

Turks & caicos is a premo vac spot. to get paid to visit it – cant get more jealous than that
I read there’s been a big corruption scandal in the Turks and Caicos. I think it was put under direct rule from the UK for a while.
Everything Donatella said. 100%. Especially tattoos.
