I’ve got the scars and poor circulation as results of my beach days. Now it’s morning or night swimming, unless I’m with nieces/nephews on water slides, calculated risk/fun.
My parents have both had melanomas, which can be fatal – now dealt with and ok. They have both had carcinomas removed from noses, ears, arms and my younger sister had squamous cells removed from her forehead. (She is a red-headed person with pink skin). The others too. Everyone has a skin cancer story. Plus, I think the fairer you are, the less fun it is hanging out in the hot sun. You feel sort of sick-ish.
Has anyone seen the consumer reports review of the sun screens? They apparently did one recently and not all sunscreens are created equal.
And people just don’t put enough on, you really need to slather it on. Gets expensive.

Ok, Jester, but don’t forget the SPF 70. Shroud in a bottle. I swear by it.

I’m probably paler than you, than anyone here, and sunbathing makes me tired the first few times and then super mellow and relaxed.

I’m headed off to P-Town for two weeks. I’ll probably go to the beach twise during those two weeks and sit under the umbrella with a shirt on.
That’s how I do it. But I like the beach best early and late.

Sunscreen that actually worked didn’t appear till late 80s, years to late for many of us.
