  1. My favorite “campy” game show was “Bowling For Dollars” on the local station WOR back in the 70’s. It was funny because it had the lowest production values ever seen.

The game was simple: you bowled twice, just like in a regular game. You received a prize of $1 (yes – one dollar) for every pin you bowled down. If you bowled a strike, you received a whopping $20.

My favorite episode was when a “Joe the Bowler” type guy came on the show, complete with wrist strap, bowling shirt, etc. Usually, before their turn the host (Bob Murphy) would chat with each contestant a while to learn about their life. Well, “Joe the Bowler” would have none of it. He told Bob Murphy “Bob, I’d love to chat, but I’m just rarin’ to mow those pins down”. Joe the Bowler then proceeded to bowl two gutter balls!!

  2. Aaargggghhh….I have to stop! I just spent the last hour looking at clips on youtube. I started out watching Middle Eastern game shows, then Mid East talk shows, now I’m watching belly dancing.
    Where did I go wrong?

  3. I don’t know if I could accept a Match Game sans Gene, Charles and Brett (all dead of course) but Betty White is still around. She was another favorite of mine. Her and Fannie Flag
