I had a kid when I was 22, which was not the best choice at that time. But I lived up to what I’d done and tried to be the best parent I could. I certainly made mistakes and at times it was overwhelming. But I didn’t quit and luckily things turned out well in the end (although it’s not really “over”).
The problem with parenting is there’s no way to predict what will happen. You have to simply do the best you can and leave it at that. You can do everything “right” and still end up with a kid like Rob.
“So when does the system not side with a woman for custody?
What circumstances?”
Basically when the woman’s personal circumstances are so tenuous and unstable that the Dad clearly makes a better parent. Or when the woman doesn’t make any pretense of wanting to raise the kid. Both happened in my case.
