Don’t know how much you were paid, but the sheer wit of the many posts suggest you were underpaid.

    Biff: Well? Shall we go?
    DIBS: Yes, let’s go.
    They do not move.

Thanks AEB. I wonder if it equals my lack of confidence in your ability to post anything of interest.

And meanwhile you continue reading this…

One last tidbit for the trolls. Truman Capote, having read “On The Road”, was quoted as saying “that’s not writing, it’s typing”. In your cases, it’s keystroking, with the emphasis on stroking.
    Sorry JL, couldn’t resist.

It has been said that most people that comment on here and act all highbrow are really just subsidized MitchelLama residents from cadmanPlaza.

And exactly who has that been said by statestreet? That sounds more like a “stateofmindstreet” comment.

Did anyone observe the Art Institute filming of a shooting with a ‘full load’ in front of the Children’s Park on the Promenade? They just finished shooting (unintended pun). Loud gun shots. I would have thought this would have gone through the Neighborhood Association – perhaps it did.. however the film police didn’t think a school has to do that. They get a permit from the Mayor’s office (I was told). I don’t think anyone in the neighborhood knew about it from what it looked and sounded like. Bad policy… the school should have the students put a sign up informing so we know what to expect.

Last night for dinner I went to Pete’s Waterfront Alehouse and encountered a waiter so rude I thought it was another channel 7 setup. There were three of us and the bill came to $90. We left $107- an almost 19% tip. As we were leaving, we were approached by the waiter who asked, “did I do something to piss you off? You only left an 8% tip.” I don’t know if his math was off, if he was trying to shake us down for more money, or what. No one knew what to say to him because we had left a generous tip (despite his slow service) and we could not believe that someone in the “service” industry had the guts to be so rude to a customer. Even if we had left him 8%, he should have been gracious and thankful we left him anything! It’s a tip for good service, not an entitlement. Anyway, are there any other places around with good chili? I’m not going back there anymore.

Was $90 pre or post-tax? He may be of the school that you’re supposed to tip on the entire balance including tax (which would be about $7.50-7.80, or $97 depending on whatever the current tax rate is).

  3. That definitely isn’t the crowd for you all anyway. Someone over there said that they are glad the fireworks will be on the Hudson again as opposed to the East River because fireworks are for “simpletons.” Sheesh.

  4. I’ll be starting at another wall streety type place in a bit. The Mrs won’t let me move to Vermont, farm, make basically no money and grow a beard, so I guess I’ll just have to satisfy my professional ADD by rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic for now.
