do you remember what happened at 3 mile Island?
It came down to human error.
when the reactors heated up,
the computers opened the water gates
to flood the reactor rods and cool them down.
the personnel at the plant saw the gates opening
and panic ensued.
they did a manual override and closed down the
gates that would have provided the necessary cooling
water.
it derailed our energy independence for generations.
I still don’t have a full handle on this story,
but basically the well was “blown out” by the fire and
blast on the rig above water.
Engineers had the option to stop it up before things got worse.
A decision was made to use sea water instead of heavy sediment to plug the hole (presumably with the expectation of unplugging it for easy access after things were stabilized).
That decision to use seawater allowed the pressure to mount and the crap hit the fan.
“CGar, David on Middagh called you a nasty nasty man over on BHB. I tried to sort him out.”
LMAO!! They’re so much more genteel over there.
Re EU bonds, yeah, seemed like a good idea at the time. Not too much discussion about shifting away from the dollar as a reserve currency these days.
cobble,

legion, Ok, that’s different than saying they had a way to close it off after it blew up.

China looking to sell EU bonds. Sounded like a good idea to diversify away from the dollar at the time. 🙁
“Looks like we’ve turned the corner twice.” —
The corner? some of us have been around the block quite a few times.
…could the answer be found just
through the tunnels into NJ?
