Snark, to consult the Oracle of Google, you must approach with flexed fingertips, mutter the correct incantation (“where the F@%k is this?)and prepare yourself to receive information both asked for, and totally irrelevant. It is up to you to decide which is which, as the Oracle, as powerful as it is, cannot read minds.
Oh lord- here is dibs are explaining yiddish to the brooklynites who don’t think Queens news needs to be posted on a Bklyn RE blog. Kinda cool actually.
I like when someone says “bless you” when you sneeze- I like that its such an old tradition and it makes people seem a little nicer.
Being a jew I know what the intent of gezundheit is.. I just wanted to extend Biff’s rant on bless you as it is a peeve of mine as well. I am hammering my 3 year old on my post sneeze preference. I think its so cool when little kids bust out a gezundheit.
Dave–I know how to google. I just didn’t want to have to leave the lovely confines of Brownstoner and I wanted to hear your response. I vastly prefer gesundheit to “bless you”. Like biff I am a bit creeped out by being blessed by randoms. Plus being an agnostic I prefer to imagine blessing as an archaic superstition rather than something useful post-sneeze. Toasting to one’s health is way better.
On the other hand, I sure wish I had an Apple store in my english basement (thanks THL)

schadenfreude is the new gezuntheit! I love it.
