  1. The Knicks better offer LeBron a s**tload of money, because he is risking his reputation big time by joining a clueless, wayward franchise like the N.Y. Knicks. Even the Maple Leafs are look good compared with the Knicks.

  2. Donatella and ENY: I think you are picturing something in your head that is much more extreme than what I am actually suggesting. I’m not saying raze the forests and leave it at that (ENY, when did I ever say “cut down all the Earth’s trees? Epic reading comprehension fail.). I am saying cut down mature / old growth stands of trees and sequester the wood while new growth captures even more carbon at a faster rate. They would still be vibrant forests. Plenty of trees growing. No loss of topsoil. Lots of woods for the little furry animals. Bambi will be fine. FWIW all of my former logging jobs are healthy living forests today.

The whole exercise is about capturing carbon and locking it up. Get the wood out of the cycle rather than letting it decompose. What this doesn’t involve is turning forest land into bare ground. What it would require is for people to get over their irrational feelings regarding cutting down trees.

Attacking the logistics is just fighting the hypo. Step one is work out the science and get over the emotional reaction. Step two is to seriously consider the logistics.

I’ll say again the loggers who have clearcut old growth forests in the Pacific Northwest and left new forests growing have probably done more to reduce atmospheric carbon than all prius driving do-gooders combined.

  3. Knicks can’t sign Lebron cause he wont come to NY. Knicks would love to have him and freed up a bunch of money for him. He is a young dude and FAR from stupid. He is using Knicks as a bargaining chip to up his contract and play for the Cavs. He loves Cleveland and wouldn’t leave and they practically built a team around him and let him get away with murder if he choses just so he plays there. Knick wont see him. I wish he comes over though but chances are it ain’t gonna happen.

  4. tons of teams can sign lebron cause they have cap $$$. rather it’s a matter of does he want to leave his team. I’m actually hoping he doesn’t opt out of his final year and enters free agency next season so knicks can sign him and Chris paul – the best possible combination in the league

  5. “Now that Canadians have taught us how to play the game, we need to teach YOU guys how to OWN a team! The Maple Leafs should be the NY Yankees of hockey. Even I know that.”

ENY, unfortunately you’re 100% correct. I think the poor exchange rate over the years (and smaller TV markets) killed some of the smaller market Canadian teams perhaps moreso than low attendance. It was really sad to see so many teams go, like Quebec, Winnipeg, etc. I think now more Canadian cities could support a team and would love to see that happen. Especially Hamilton, but unfortunately I think Toronto and Buffalo can kabosh that due to their proximity. As for the Leafs, the problem is Toronto fans are so obsessed with hockey, they’ll always fill the seats no matter how bad the team is and decades of horrible management never did much to try to improve the results on the ice. It’s a travesty they’ve been so bad given the loyalty of their fans. I guess Chicago Cubs fans can relate.
