Legion, Miracles is *such* a good song. I’ll have to send the link to my mom – it will make her day. Feel like I’m 8 going on errands with her in the suburu.
Anyone have any requests for a Jane song? Perhaps further back, with Jefferson Star… [hears noise at reception. freezes. slowly swiches off PA. military crawls to back door, exits]
and now that’s it 2010, we can safely play 1990s song with real nostalgia. But this will really date you, my fellow thirty-somethings– you were actually listening to Nothing’s Shocking in the 80s. That’s right, it was 1988 that introduced us to this sad and simple, and now worn-out Jane’s tune, Jane says:
Jane says
I’m done with Sergio
He treats me like a ragdoll
She hides
The television
Says I don’t owe him nothing,
But if he comes back again
Tell him to wait right here for me
Or just
Try again tomorrow
I’m gonna kick tomorrow
Gonna kick tomorrow
Jane says
Have you seen my wig around?
I feel naked without it
She knows
They all want her to go
But that’s O.K. man
She dont like them anyway
Jane says
She’s goin away to spain
When she gets my money saved
I’m gonna start tomorrow
I’m gonna kick tomorrow
Gonna kick tomorrow
She gets mad
Starts to cry
She takes a swing but
She cant hit
She don’t mean no harm
She just don’t know
What else to do about it
Jane goes
To the store at 8:00
She walk up on St. Andrews
She waits
And gets her dinner there
She pulls her dinner
From her pocket
Jane says
I’ve never been in love
I don’t know what it is
Only knows if someone wants her
I want them if they want me
I only know they want me
She gets mad
And she starts to cry
She takes a swing man
She cant hit!
She don’t mean no harm
She just dont know
What else to do about it
[sneaks behind Snappy’s turntables, dons her headphones]
alright all you wednesday night weirdos, i am going to start with something slow and sweet, and radio friendly- sit back on the sectional i donated to the OT lounge, and listen to the Cowboy Junkie’s version of Velevet Underground’s Sweet Jane:
Standing on the corner,
Suitcase in my hand
Jack is in his corset, and Jane is her vest,
And me I’m in a rock’n’roll band Hah!
Ridin’ in a Stutz Bear Cat, Jim
You know, those were different times!
Oh, all the poets they studied rules of verse
And those ladies, they rolled their eyes
I’ll tell you something
Jack, he is a banker
And Jane, she is a clerk
Both of them save their monies, ha
And when, when they come home from work
Oh, Sittin’ down by the fire, oh!
The radio does play
The classical music there, Jim
“The March of the Wooden Soldiers”
All you protest kids
You can hear Jack say, get ready, ah
Sweet Jane! Come on baby! Sweet Jane! Oh-oh-a! Sweet Jane!
Some people, they like to go out dancing
And other peoples, they have to work, Just watch me now!
And there’s even some evil mothers
Well they’re gonna tell you that everything is just dirt
Y’know that, women, never really faint
And that villains always blink their eyes, woo!
And that, y’know, children are the only ones who blush!
And that, life is just to die!
And, everyone who ever had a heart
They wouldn’t turn around and break it
And anyone who ever played a part
Oh wouldn’t turn around and hate it!
Sweet Jane! Whoa-oh-oh! Sweet Jane! Sweet Jane!
Heavenly wine and roses
Seems to whisper to her when he smiles
Heavenly wine and roses
Seems to whisper to her when she smiles
La lala lala la, la lala lala la
Sweet Jane
Sweet Jane
Sweet Jane
but remember, what i was trying to say, the court fights pushed the start date back so far that the financial meltdown happened before they broke ground, so, i can’t help but blame the court fights

…fade out to car on dark mountain road and theme to

yeah, at least something’s finally happening there. but they say it will be done around 2035. sucks.
I think this dude is a total hyprocrite. But Benson, did he and DDDB not bother to lobby the legislature and only went through the courts?
