AMT is I think something where those with tons of deductions( 12 children, mortgage interest on mcMansions, state/local income real estate taxes, titheing to penecostal church) – still have to pay some minimum federal income tax.
What is the “federal AMT”?

Yes Pete, I did. Feds are fucking me hard as always. NY is actually giving me some back. I get a state deduction for contributions to kids’ 529 plans (and no federal deduction). And then there is the massive unlubricated annual raping known as the federal AMT, which is how other parts of the country pick New Yorkers’ pockets.
