Ok. This has gotten ridiculous. When did we get to a point where we refuse to allow anyone to express an alternate opinion here without jumping down their throats and stomping on their guts??? This is not just about Rob, this about all Brownstoner posters having the right to disagree with something, to say what they think and not be slaughtered for it. There are plenty of opinions that are expressed on this site that a lot of people find ridiculous/inane/whatever you want to call it. And they don’t all come from Rob. I am sitting here wondering what you all would say to me if I posted my opinions on the disaster in Haiti and the mass coverage of it. Would you jump on me as quickly? Or would you give me a pass because I’m not Rob or another poster you are so used to disagreeing with? What would you think of me if I said I’m purposely not turning on the tv or 1010 Wins because I don’t want to see/hear any more of it? What would you say about me if I told you that I believe that the US govt. should not be sending any aid to Haiti whatsoever since we still have people in craptastic temporary housing all these years after Katrina? What would you say to me if I told you I’m a firm believer in the mantra of ‘ignore everyone else until you take care of your own?’ Would you automatically hate me too? Am I no longer your friend? Do I no longer have any valid thoughts on any given subject? Or is this just your ole pal Snappy disagreeing with you on something? I have to wonder now.
This has all just gotten so gross that I can’t believe it. We all claim to love diversity and a discussion, but what we really like in here is indoctrination. State your opinion and, heaven forbid, if it does not fall in line with the majority -whatever that is on any given day- good luck getting out of here alive and with your keyboard intact. We spend hours on a single subject, not debating facts and expressing ideas, but trying to convince people that their ideas and opinions and way of expressing themselves is wrong, evil, unworthy of being typed out.
It will be a relief when this place finally returns to the fun spot it used to be.
