  1. CG_ups, if you’re lurking, you can cash in the free drinks at this 21st gathering (walking distance from your pad) or at that Chance II place in Ft Greene on Myrtle (it looks open for biz when I drive by it last Fri)

  2. Actually –
I have been in a handful of projects to visit various family members or scout out up and coming rappers and R&B singers, some projects were “better” than others. one of my most memorable Project visits was up to the Bronx on 169th and Webster Avenue in a project nicknamed “The Nine”. The front door bell was broken and had remained broken on and off for 3 years, also this was BEFORE cell phone usage was rampant so basically you would just have to wait at the front door outside until someone finally came out or was coming in and they would let you in – it was a joke, no security for these folks whatsoever.
I will not sit here and say living in the projects is nice or easy, what MM says about them is true (except the heat, um those apartments are like tropical saunas’ in the winter)
however I think it’s just the fact that the Housing system overall is broken and we all would like to see a change to them.

  3. i’ve been in quite a few projects actually – and the apts (not the common areas) are nicer than alot of apartments post-college 20 somethings are living in nowadays.

Because many people keep them clean.

I’ve been in many apartments of illegal mexican families and I can tell you those are the cleanest in the world. A Chinese friend of mine who owns a number of buildings around Manhattan says they are the best to rent to; not specifically illegals.

  4. quote:
She has lived here all of her life. She is entitled to die there of advanced old age in her 3 bedroom apartment, surrounding by her stuff. I’ve helped clean out the apartments of senior citizens who did the same thing. Why, because it is their home. A home they were eligible for when they moved in, stayed eligible for for their entire lives, and were happy to die in when they reached the end.

whatever. i find that pathetic actually. but it’s okay disagree. and yeah even if she IS paying 100 percent of her rent, it’s still just 1000 dollars for a 3 bedroom. she is not entitled to die in that apartment. that’s just ridiculous. and pathetic.
