  1. Union Maid, by Woody Guthrie

There once was a union maid, she never was afraid
Of goons and ginks and company finks and the deputy sheriffs who made the raid.
She went to the union hall when a meeting it was called,
And when the Legion boys come ’round
    She always stood her ground.

Oh, you can’t scare me, I’m sticking to the union,
I’m sticking to the union, I’m sticking to the union.
Oh, you can’t scare me, I’m sticking to the union,
I’m sticking to the union ’til the day I die.

nothing to do with anything, I just like that song….although it is interesting in that it was from a time where being part of a union was actually a neccesity for your own personal safety.

  2. I’m not sure it’s a union thing. They showed very little solidarity or consideration for their union brothers and sisters who were stuck behind them and couldn’t do their jobs. I think it’s more of a power thing. They get yelled at all day by people mad about tickets, and so they have a chip on their shoulders.

  3. as we speak – traffic cop is choosing to issue the UPS truck outside my office it’s 5th ticket of the day while choosing to ignore the horns caused by the taxi blocking the box less than a half block away.

  4. that happened to me once with inspection.. expired and didn’t realize and left car in same spot for like a week since alternate side was suspended.
Fine was reduced to just 1 or 2 tickets.

  5. ” Honestly, couldn’t the cops just have circled the block and let the trucks through to do their job and then written the tix?”

    Yes!!

Oh – that was probably a retorical question.

Cops are jerks – you should have gone all 1-8-7 (just kidding)
