“Its simply the rules of jinxes
Dont you know anything? : )”
Oh yeah. Pardon me!
“I waited in vain for the revelers to run up and down the street so I could have someone to party with. Sadly, they never showed up 🙁 Why no impromptu street party this year?”
We expected the Yankees to win, that’s why! It was no surprise to the True Believers! But, glad you’re on the right team, Snappy!
In my fear of jinxing the Yanks I waited until the 9th to turn the game on. After they won, I waited in vain for the revelers to run up and down the street so I could have someone to party with. Sadly, they never showed up 🙁 Why no impromptu street party this year? Or are the folks in SouthSlope/Greenwood Heights just lame this time around?
I agree benson, but I would hope a better banking sector will help stimulate the rest of the country. With a weaker dollar, export sales should begin to pick up also (mine have). Retails sales are stronger than expected. As are auto sales. Things are looking up, but it will take some time. You’re sounding like a Democrat btw, Obama 2010 baby!!!

Snappy,
Per the gentrification article they are all Red Sox fans with Subarus.

“Yeah OK, fsrq. There’s lots of superstition in baseball. But your not-100%-committed-vibe may have ALSO jinxed the Yanks! Ever think of that?”
No – you jinx something by saying it as a fact or a rule, when in reality it is only a possibility (even a strong one)..
Examples – “I dont think they’ll be any traffic”
“I’m not worried, no one in my family ever has a heart attack”
“This car never breaks down”
Saying the Yankees will win the WS or pennant is a jinx! saying you have worries is not.

You’re on a roll denton. Stay the course in 2010? — sounds eerily like the 1982 mid-terms for RR. Congrats to you and your daughter, btw.
Interesting perspective, benson. A lot will depend politically on what the jobs picture looks like in late spring.
Denton- wish they had captioning, damn those videos. Couldn’t hear a thing.
Fair Housing Act, completely.

BBB, where’s your office? I saw the guys with the machine guns and the black SUVs surrounding Grand Central.
