benson–the family bath is Clinton Hill tradition too. At least in my house it is. I don’t know how old my oldest will have to be for it to become inappropriate but at these young ages it is fun for the kids and for me too.
It has a ewww factor. And at that age, isn’t a steam room a bad place to be? It’s tough on adults, but a 4 year old is way too small to handle those conditions. they dehydrate really quickly.
I can imagine a situation where a father might need to take a little girl in to use the bathroom, but otherwise — not something I’d like to see happening.
Recently we discussed some weird cultural aspects of Japan. You know what is the weirdest to me? Japanese families take a bath together at night. That’s right: mom, dad, and the kids all take a bath together. I just can’t imagine it….
I grew up in a household that wasn’t super uptight about nudity so I don’t think that merely seeing a naked person is something to be shocked about. HOWEVER, there’s a time a place. I think taking a kid in to go to the bathroom is one thing. Taking them in to ‘tour’ the facilities is another.

That is unacceptable. Frankly, if I had been one of the guys in that room I’d have said something to the management.
