snarkslope- well obviously your awards are of a higher plane than QOTD- ergo your award is ever so much more precious. By the way..er, if I may ask. How many awards have you given out?
I ask only because I was thinking of recommending we also set up Sainted Tenant and Evile Landlord Awards. there would, of course have to be talent contests and essays to qualify.
A thin sliced pancetta (I like the peppery saltiness) or an applewood smoked bacon bakes up much better. It release more fat getting the sugar of the date to caramelize better and giving the cheese enough time to get gooey. IMO prosciutto tends to get a little dry.
“I go to a Thai restaurant in Queens; which by the way is the most authentic in NYC; When we go with my Thai friend she of course does all the ordering and says to the waiter, in Thai of course:
Make it less spicy for the ‘Farang'”
BRG: are you demonstrating authentic Thai-American grammar in this post?
Brownstoner, PLEASE BRING BACK GUEST POSTING. I am begging you.
You *prefer* being contrary!
(me too) 😉
I prefer figs over dates anyway.

benson…if her Thai friends were more polite they would have referred to her as “Lady farang”
