Sorry to hear that the Union Hall event is cancelled. I am going to be at Press 195 (5th & Union) that evening and was considering popping into Union Hall to hear the winners.
Oh, no, cobble. So sorry this blog has taken a toll. I’m disappointed and was looking forward to the evening. But you don’t owe it to anyone here to do something your heart isn’t into.
It will be difficult to get that return without taking risk in some equities. There are a lot out there that yield 5% or more but you’ll have to know what you’re buying and be OK with volatility.
On my yield side, I own:
TSM 4.15%
CHT 5.87%
PHI 6.41%
PGH 10.68%
so 5.52%
There is no guarantee of pricipal stability with these names. 30 Year treasuries are at 4%.
dh – you can probably do around as good with shorter duration. i like to keep CDs a year or shorter. the nice thing is that you can totally shop for CDs. i think there are some websites that actually post rates for all the companies? maybe bankrate dot com or something like that. i should practice what i preach, i just roll mine over with chase.
And here I thought the only drama today was going to revolve around mailboxes. 🙂
“is the space still reserved? snappy made me a birfday baggy. with sprinkles. or sparkles. or both.”
Space is still reserved and I will be there.
Whoever else wants to go, please join me.
Thanks.

I say we just all still go to Union Hall (or somewhere else) on Oct 15 anyway.
