  1. THL, the closest we got to a soundtrack song was Dave belting out Seasons of Love from Rent! HYSTERICAL!!!

I was going to jump in to help Dave out on that one but didn’t want to take away the Glory. I was a theatre minor in college after all :-).

  2. “P.S., the bricks in the goody bag were not contextual.”

ROFL! That’s why it came with a warning to consult Mr. B. or risk winding up on the Horror Show Friday thread! And your song suggestions rule!

  3. Hey guys, I had a great time last night, although my voice is toast from trying to shout over the music. I knew it was time to leave when several things happened – someone started singing to the dog, people started to develop close personal relationships with the floor, and I started seriously contemplating singing show tunes.

It was great that the place was more or less ours. It certainly looked like the bar tab was quite high for a Thursday night.

Thanks, Snappy and Cobble for putting it all together, and everyone looked smashing in bxgrl’s tiaras.

  4. Jessi…I’m glad you made it through the night…you were tanked girl! Before you left you were telling me about a semi-lesbo friend and you must have said the same sentence like 6 times in a row! LOL

  5. Hey all,
Thanks to cobble and snappy for everything last night!! Great to see everyone, although I can’t remember what I said to anyone in the second half of the night. (Not that drink is much of an excuse, I do incoherent pretty well when sober)

I think we should get a third mini-Snappy and have them form a girl group.

  6. Dibs, your song deserves an encore. Here’s one from Richard Thompson, unrevised:

I stepped on the dance floor feeling very cool
I thought I saw an angel sitting on a stool
    I just couldn’t tell, you’ll think I’m a fool
If she was a woman or a man

She was the kind of woman that a man could crave
From her high-heeled shoes to her permanent wave
Except maybe she was needing a shave
Was she a woman or a man?

O I asked her to dance and I took her by the hand
She held me so tight, it was hard for me to stand
    Built like a lumberjack, I couldn’t understand
If she was a woman or a man

Well, I walked her home, it was quarter past four
My heart was thumping as we ducked in the door
And then when she kissed me I thought I was sure
If she was a woman or a man

Well, she stole my wallet and she knocked me off my feet
She tied on her roller skates and made her retreat
All I found was a blond wig a-lying in the street
Was she a woman or a man?

Well, I don’t care if she seemed unkind
She stole my heart and she robbed me blind
I love her so much that I still wouldn’t mind
If she was a woman or a man

    ——–

Lots of fun, everyone. Thanks, snappy, and thanks everyone that snappy thanked.

Other songs for the next singalong:

“I Fought the Law and the Law Won” — Snappy.

“Once in a Lifetime” — me, Denton, Mopar (“this is not my beautiful house”)

I’ll leave it to you folks to come up with more.

P.S., the bricks in the goody bag were not contextual.

  7. the compass ring in my gift bag may actually be the most functional gift i have EVER gotten. i was wearing it this morning for a bit but it started cutting off circulation in my pinky finger so ill probably have to wear it as a necklace or just keep it in my pocket.

(ive never used a compass before!) they seem very handy!
