Comparing Princess Di and Michael Jackson seems a little silly. Except for the fact they were unhappy celebrities, and both did a lot for charity, he was an entertainer and she was a princess. Isn’t it foolish to have a dead celebrity remembrance contest? Because 10-20 years down the road we’ll still feel regret they died young, but it doesn’t compare to how we feel about an MLK, or JFK or Malcolm X or RKF. And There are those whose tragic deaths have more impact than their lives- Emmett Till for one. Those deaths were world altering.
The saddest thing about Michael is, as THL says- the circling vultures.
I either read or heard on TV that MJ was the last true super-celebrity, the kind of person who couldn’t walk anywhere on Earth without being recognized. I don’t think he was the last – Michael Jordan or Obama would be totally unable to quietly show up anywhere – but still, it puts him in rarefied air.
ditto, no respect to Anne but you can’t discredit Diana because someone else did it before her. She got in the trenches too. She didn’t just show up for photo ops.
It’s not her fault she was good looking. She was smart about it. She used her popularity to bring attention to the causes she championed.
It’s a shame Anne didn’t get her due but Diana still deserves hers.
I saw Taj Mahal, Skatalites and Los Pinguos last year at Summerstage in Central Park. Great show.
Dave, I just can’t stand his non sense. I’ll keep BHO around cause he is coherent and cornerbodega cause his and your arguments are always entertaining.
Actually there would be no Tiger Woods if there were no Robert McNamara, who died yesterday. McNamara was the main proponent of the Vietnam War and that’s where Tiger’s father and mother met.

They met over there during the war. The mother is Thai.
And to bring it all home, the first AA model is definitely the ebst. She flutters away WAY too quickly.
s/b”: No disrespect to Anne…
They met at the war?
