Rob, if you wish to date and establish a relationship with someone of substance, as you put it, you need to be someone of substance yourself. You should volunteer your time at charitable organizations such as God’s love, we deliver, or meals on wheels, or Gay Men’s Health Alliance, or some other group that attempts, in whatever small way, to help others and improve the city in some way.
I think it will make you feel proud of yourself and it will improve your social life too I’m sure.
gemini- you and I have the same tastes in wine it seems. I loved some of the NYS wines my sister and brother-in-law used to bring home after trips upstate. Those seem to have disapppeared- at least I never see them anymore. We’ve ben drinking a lot of Australian wine.
snappy- you’re right! That was one lesson I learned quickly. (of course I had to learn the same lesson re vodka, tequila, wine….. I’m an avid student)
The best sake comes from Niigata. It’s because of the quality, fresness and purity of the water. The best sake is really, really dry and typically more interesting than a martini.

WOW, I just read yesterday’s open thread. Talk about an epic battle of the brains LMAO.
For the record, I gave up on Gin. It makes the frontal lobes of your brain hemorrhage, and the hangovers are ruthless.
I switched to Vodka, and the occasional Patron.
Riesling is great – really the only white wine I like actually – maybe a Sav Blanc.
Pinot Noir can be really good or really bad in my experiences. All “organic” wines SUCK!!!
I love a big cali cab as well, or a bordeaux (i think 98 or 99 was a good year)

I’ll probably have a rose tonight with my steak tartare at Jolie.
denton – are you calling me a wine afficionado then?- wooo hoooo
Rose is fine for the summer. A nice cotes du provence with a raw seafood salad.
“snappy- I can’t remember :-)”
ROFL Bxgirl!!! I’ll bet you never do that again!
