A tipster pointed us in the direction of Carroll Garden’s Ola Baby, and sure enough, there is a sign announcing that the store will be closing. The Yelp reviews were fairly positive regarding the store’s handmade, high quality goods, but as one reviewer put it: “$46 for a T-shirt that will be outgrown within weeks or months? It’s getting to be a bit much.” GMAP

  1. They used to have a location in Bay Ridge too. It closed up about two years ago. It only lasted a year here though. She said something about having a family and two stores being too difficult to navigate. Maybe she now wants to stay home full time?

  2. Rob, what would people do if you werent around. whatever the reason (love, hate, etc), you’ve got a huge following.

Given the rents in these premo hoods, am surprised more stores aint closing. Most of these biz can’t make it via just the walk-in traffic

  3. *rob* I never know when you are kidding…

I always went here to buy gifts – and when my friend had a preemie they were one of the few places that carried a good selection of tiny sizes.

But what I loved most was their toy selection, I found those to be well priced but yeah there were outfits that were sooo pricey considering who it was for- its just not worth it – but Ola is/was no more pricey than what Area charges.

  4. I’m always sorry to see a local mom and pop close. Ola has a little mini chain so it’s good to cut out what’s not working. The funny thing is I think $20 onesies were made for this neighborhood (I have been in this store and I never saw a $46 t, but could be wrong)
