It’s been open for a few months already, but the Spice Factory Gallery at 71 Washington Avenue just caught our eye this week. The ground-floor space, currently showing work by Michelle Frick, Geoff Henshall, Jongwang Lee and Veronica Torres, nudges this charming block (one of our favorites in the neighborhood) one step closer to the critical mass needed to lure visitors.
Repop is on that block and it is one of the most intriguing antiques stores in all of NYC.

i hope you are talking about personal friends and family or something, cuz i can’t imagine why someone would want to lure tourists to their residential neighborhood.. i guess maybe good for the local businesses tho.

bstoner has a thing for wallabout
ugh, someone please oil that lift gat… or try and open and close it only once a night:(
there are a couple of nice loft buildings on this side of the street, but some of the even-numbered buildings on the west side of the street are amazing, including one terra cotta beauty at #52 currently being allowed to fall apart.
I’ll have to check out the Streetview because I’m not seeing the charm.
