Where New Yorkers Can Vote in the April 19 Presidential Primary

The New York presidential primary is on Tuesday, April 19. Are you registered? Where’s your polling station? When is it open? If you’re not sure, no worries.

The 2016 presidential race has elevated New York’s presidential primary to a higher-than-usual level of importance. Previously held on Super Tuesday or at least on the same primary day as a handful of other states, New York’s primary will this year be a standalone event — meaning that we’ve gotten candidates’ undivided attention.

The statewide primary will take place on Tuesday, April 19, and its outcome could have a significant impact on the race between Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders and Republican candidates Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and John Kasich.

Indeed, Sanders and Clinton will duke it out tonight at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for the democratic debate. And all of the candidates, with the exception of Trump, have hosted or are planning more events throughout the borough this month.

Want to vote in the primary on Tuesday? The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Here’s how to find your polling location:

Find out if you are registered to vote by filling in your voter information (full name, birthday, county, zip code) on the New York State Board of Elections’ website. If you are not yet registered to vote, unfortunately, registration for the April 19 primary is now closed.
Once you have confirmed that you can vote on Tuesday, find your polling site by visiting whosontheballot.org, a not-for-profit project created by the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
Fill in your information: address, zip code and party affiliation. Click “See My Ballot.”
Scroll down to where it says “Poll Site Address.” Here it should give you the address and hours for your poll site.
Go out and vote!

Alternatively, you can also find your polling location on New York City’s Board of Elections website, but it is not as easy to use as Columbia’s.
