A reader found this new rendering attached to the construction fence at 645-651 Union Street, just across from Dinosaur Bar-B-Q, where hotelier Matt Abramcyk, of Beatrice Inn fame, is building a hotel. We are quite impressed with the look of the building, which has an old-fashioned industrial air or looks like it could be an old pub and inn somewhere in Britain.
All that quaintness is quite new, however: The brand-new building will rise on the site of a former parking lot. Work has not yet started on the site, below. Kutnicki Bernstein Architects is the architect of record on a permit issued last month, which calls for a five-story building with 78 units. And as the rendering indicates, there will be a restaurant and bar — and a pool!
What do you think of the design?
Boutique Hotel Planned for Gowanus [Brownstoner]
this is gonna be a shitshow – brace yourselves, Park Slope West.
love it!
I much rather see more contextual hotels such as this than another Comfort Inn or Hotel le Bleu.
