If people in the past were ignorant and racist towards you, it does not give you the right now to discriminate against others. It makes you a racist as well.
Do you want to look at who white politicians are surrounded by? I see a slew of only white faces most of the time. Look at our congress, one black president in over 100 years doesn’t change that you are focusing on the 1% of black politicians. They are trying to get a demographic that was never included, involved and made to feel like their livelihood matters. No, you would never understand because you view is simplistic on race. It’s easy to be that way when you aren’t born of color.
BP Adams is founder of 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement … Sounds like a racist movement to me. How would he feel if some white cop created 100 Whites in Law Enforcement. Wish some of these politicians start governing based on what is best for their community as a whole and not based on race.
Racist movement? Do you even know what racism is? I doubt it because you haven’t been discriminated or judged because of the color of your skin. Besides that, did you even google the purpose and mission of 100 blacks in law enforcement who cares.
And you live in bed stuy, the most predominantly African American neighborhood in Brooklyn. Jesus, I bet you run in your house and don’t talk to anyone unless it benefits you.
I have the feeling that you don’t understand what racism is. My friend, look at who Adams, Cornegy, Cumbo etc…are surrounded by. It is very difficult to find one non-African American in their teams/inner circles. That’s the sign of racist politicians. Yes, they might have been discriminated against While growing up, but that doesn’t give them the right to discriminate against others now. They should be better role models for the next generation by showing them how to be open to everyone regardless of your color, religion etc…
Ocean Hill, how do you feel if 100 white homeowners in Ocean Hill started their own group called 100 White Homeowners of Ocean Hill. Wouldn’t you think it would sound somewhat odd to have such group. Personally, I would think of it as a completely racist group by restricting the group to “white” homeowners, regardless of their mission or objective. The same applies to the 100 Black Law Enforcement; by restricting the group to “Black” law enforcement, they are discriminating against white officers.
The responsibility should relay on white people to include us after centuries of viewing us as 2nd class citizens or not a human at all. But we still have institutions in this country that lacks diversity. If you want to talk about people doing better than the previous generations.
There is no need for such group, that is the point. But you just don’t get it and most white people don’t. It’s a shame you live in a community so rich in African American culture and remain so unaware.
There is no need for a 100 whites in law enforcement when it’s majority is white. When most of the law enforcement are in minority neighborhoods it’s detrimental that relations between the cops patrolling and the people they are to protect improves. Its also known that the African American community needs help and guidance by those that can provide it.
