Review: Caserta Vecchia [A Brooklyn Life]
I think they are to cap and affix the iron rebars that run through the brick. The star shape is actually functional, serving as an anchor for the rebar cap as it stabilizes the rebars running through the the brick into the frame of the building. So, it’s an amusing combination of form and actual function.
I saw stars like this in Charleston, South Carolina. They were put into buildings to strengthen the structure…
Does anyone know what exactly these stars were? I have one on my house as well at the back.
