Gowanus Canal Restoration Study Meeting
Today, Community Board 6’s Public Safety/Environmental Protection Committee holds a public meeting. Representatives for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection present on the Gowanas Canal Ecological Restoration Study. Monday, 6:30 p.m. Free.   1. OK So I was thinking about this topic (Gowanus Canal) this weekend while cleaning my fish tank…Here is what I think.

    We dam up one end of the canal with a temporary wall and drain 2/3 of the water out into the ocean. Then get a giant gravel/sand cleaner to suction up the rest of the water while cleaning the sand and the same time. once all of the nasty chemicals are removed from deep in the sand, remove the damn and let the ocean water flow back in.

    Repeat the process until clean.

    All of the chemical soaked sand that is rmoved can be left to dry in the sun and then buried inside of a mountain.

    Just like cleaning a large fish tank…Problem solved
