Brooklyn Bridge Poetry Walk
Poets House presents the 12th annual walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Poets Kimiko Hahn, Major Jackson, and Thomas Lux will provide readings under the bridge’s arches. Pulitizer-winning poet Galway Kinnell will recite Whitman’s “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry” at Fulton Ferry Landing. Special guests include actors Bill Murray and Oliver Platt, who will read from a selection of their favorite verses at St. Ann’s Warehouse. $250. 6:30 p.m. One Centre Street, lower Manhattan. Park Slope Writer’s Group Anniversary
Come celebrate the 10th Anniversary Celebration of a writer’s group that has been meeting in a dance studio on Union Street. Enjoy cocktails and readings, including a play, short fiction, poetry, and memoir. The participating writers include Louise Crawford, Mary Crowley, Wendy Ponte, Rosemary Moore, Barbara Ensor, Kevin McPartland, and Marian Fontana. It takes place at 8 p.m. at the Old Stone House (Fifth Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets).
