  1. minard, sometimes you crack me up cuz here you’re just making an ass out yourself. You don’t know what mofongo is but you want to lecture me on the redundancy of ‘green’ when applied to plantains. Which makes you wrong again, as there are also yellow plantains. They are referred to as ‘platanos maduros’ as opposed to ‘platanos verdes’, the green version. Same fruit, different state of ripeness. Different recipes. See Ditmas Snark and wikipedia.

But what would I know about these things, I’ve only been married to a Latina for 33 years.

  2. denton, don’t be patronizing. I am fairly familiar with comidas criollas, just never had mofongo, and I”m still not sure what it is. A doubt it is mashed plantains, the “green plantains” is redundant. I think it is more likely corn meal, what is somtimes called fu-fu, which is aka polenta in fancy places like Bath Beach.

  3. legion, you need to stick to doctoring and global warming! Next time at least let the car drive away? lol…

Minard, you won’t see much mofongo in the Heights, that’s for sure. It can be many things but it usually will include mashed green plantains and posk of some kind.
