That allows about 2,500 workers will keep their jobs.” The article also notes that this will be the first time a public medical facility is running a private one in New York state.

  1. Mr. Brown, I don’t see any snark directed at LICH, just the kind of witty kibitzing one will read on a blog. Glad to hear about your wife; may she live a long and healthy life.

And I agree with your expressed need for a hospital in this part of Brooklyn. That said, BHS is correct that there will need to be fundamental changes in the health care system in New York.

I always got great service at the hospital and I know a bunch of mothers who had their first babies at St. Vincents and the siblings at LICH, with complete satisfaction.

  2. Two weeks ago, some amazing doctors and nurses at LICH saved my wife’s life. It’s easy to snark at this hospital and it’s pretty poor reputation. It ain’t no fancy Manhattan hospital. But it’s our closest hospital, and the 10 minutes we saved going there were minutes she needed desperately. Someday, one of you will need those 10 minutes, too. As it turned out, LICH gave us the highest level of medicine, care, and compassion through a terrifying and difficult time. I am so glad that this deal is in place to keep it going.
