Join the Community Conversation to Reimagine Lefferts House

The 18th century Lefferts Historic House has been a fixture of Prospect Park since it was moved there in 1918, and while restoration work has been under way on the exterior, another project has been focused on reinvigorating the museum and broadening the stories it tells.

Community members are being invited to learn what research has uncovered about the indigenous history and legacy of enslavement at the house and the surrounding area in a special program this month as part of the ReImagine Lefferts Initiative. Participants will be able to hear presentations, participate in creative workshops, and give feedback.

While the scaffolding is down on the exterior of the house, work continues on the $2.5 million dollar project to restore exterior and address drainage and landscape issues. Meanwhile, the interior is not yet ready to reopen as an historic house museum and community gathering space.

The free program will take place at the Prospect Park Boathouse on Saturday, February 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. Find out more details and reserve a spot at the event page online.
