Kimchi Taco, the successful Mexican and Korean fusion joint that began as a food truck and then opened a storefront in Prospect Heights, is opening a second location on Smith Street in Carroll Gardens, DNAinfo reported. Founder Philip Lee will soon be serving up Korean barbeque tacos and kimchi at Kimchi Grill at 478 Smith Street. Just like the Prospect Heights restaurant, the new outpost will be small and cater mostly to take-out orders, but still serve Bloody Marys, mimosas, margaritas, soju and beer to customers while they wait.

The little spot at the corner of Smith and 9th streets, shown above in 2012, will serve a similar menu to the Washington Avenue location, including beef short ribs, spicy pork, tofu edamame falafel and vegan kimchi. Community Board Six’s permits and licenses committee recommended approving a full liquor license for the venue Monday night, and Lee expects to open in the next two months.
