Speaking of Brooklyn parks, Kevin Jeffrey, a 31-year veteran of the Parks Department and most recently the Deputy Commissioner for Public Programs, has been appointed Borough Commissioner for Brooklyn, a spot held by Julian Spiegel for 29 years. “As Deputy Commissioner for Public Programs, Kevin Jeffrey has focused on program innovation and the creation of partnerships that align the Parks mission with that of the NYC Departments of Health and Education,” says the press release. “He is committed to expanding recreational, educational, and athletic opportunities for all New Yorkers.”

Congrats to Mr. Jeffrey. Come on over to Brower Park, and see what can be done there. It’s a beautiful park, with old growth oak trees, and needs some tlc. It’s also well used, and our only park in Crown Heights North.
