Despite all odds, Park Slope Patch reports, Kemistry Lounge will still open on Flatbush Avenue. This comes after strong neighborhood opposition, the denial of a liquor license by the community board, and Kemistry owning $60,000 in back rent to its landlord. But the co-owner of the club tells Patch: “The plan is to open as a restaurant/lounge as we intended,” most likely at the end of September. This week they applied to the State Liquor Authority for a license for bottle service, a big point of contention with surrounding neighbors. The Prospect Place Neighbors group has promised to “respond appropriately and vigorously to their application to the SLA,” said their lawyer. The Kemistry co-owner maintains that this is not a club, and suggested they may serve bottles in a different container to make for a safer atmosphere.

  1. Idiots – it’s not about the “container” they serve the booze in. it’s about letting people guzzle vodka and them dumping them out onto residential streets.

My money is on the community for this one.
