Last September news broke that Mile End, the popular purveyor of smoked meats which launched on Hoyt Street in early 2010 and is opening a second location on Bond Street in Manhattan any day now (it’ll be more of a take-out sandwich shop), would be expanding its production capabilities by building out a kitchen space at Pier 41 in Red Hook. Earlier this week, we stopped by and got a look at the facility, where the purveyor of Montreal-style deli foods is already producing large amounts of cured and smoked meats, fresh baked breads and cookies and a wide range of pickled items. You should be able to buy this stuff direct when their new storefront opens at the front of the waterfront space in six weeks or so. Click through to see the set-up in all its stainless steel glory.
