Crispus Attucks Playground, the park on Classon and Fulton that neighbors have complained is a magnet for “unsavory characters”—such as prostitutes and drug addicts—is going to be renovated, according to The Daily News. Councilman Al Vann announced that he’s secured $2.5 million in capital funds for improvements to the park, which he says will include improving its security, installing lights, and renovating basketball and handball courts. It’ll be a couple of years before the revamp is realized, though.

I go here all the time — I’m happy about the renovation but I wouldn’t call it “seedy” by any stretch. It’s a decent playground with the potential to be a great one.
