It’s a $850,000 renovation project that will bring gravel, benches, fences and water fountains to Owl’s Head, with $650,000 dedicated to making Dyker Beach Park’s dog run an official Parks Department run and adding similar amenities to the site. The only bad news: the Owl’s Head run will close from spring 2013 until the fall for renovations, what is said to be “peak dog time.”

Thank you. October will be the 12 th year Owls Head dog run was opened. For all these years all upkeep has been done by the folks who go there with pets. Those of us that were there from the beginning, fought for help from Comm Board 10 Marty, Parks and DOT. The latter 2 constantly passed the buck to the other, so nothing was done. Sounds like Dyker will get bulk of grant. Please make sure no benches are put near fence on highway side or dogs will use benches to catapult themselves out of the run.
……..Thank you for your input and commitment. A lot of years in the making.
