The notice above was sent via a resident of 851 Franklin Avenue, who reports: “Posted in my apartment building this weekend. You could hear them trashing the unit all night Sat and Sun.” Can cops do anything in a situation like this? GMAP

  1. 851 Frank- I don’t know much about cameras, I wrote what I heard after talking to people in the street. It sounds like you are blaming the wrong people.. you really think they will let people into an apt with no rent? Doesn’t sound like G-Way to me 🙂
    Wake-up call- This is Brooklyn!!!

  2. Yogo – are you our “neighbor” or do you work for GWay? as far as I know there are no functioning surveillance cameras in the building. Our young neighbors on the 4th floor recently had their apartment broken into, then later in the evening on the same day another break-in attempt on the same apartment. they asked GWay about the “surveillance camera” on the first floor and were told that it didn’t actually work. GWay needs to start take building management as the serious legal responsibility that is is. Hard working people suffer when you don’t.

  3. I’m sure the judge will give them a rent stabilized lease. NYC judges love to give away other people’s property (aka rent control and rent stabilization).

  4. From what I understand the management has locked the fire escape window, replaced the lock on the door and secured the roof door with an alarm. they where very quick to respond and showed the police the tapes of the surveillance cameras in the buildings. Neighbor.

  5. butterflU =/= equal butterflY. anyway, that sucks. we’ve had two breakins in my building recently and there’s a note in the hallway about not letting people in and stuff. is this a new construction condo? im always curious as to why some of the half built EMPTY buildings DONT have more squatters in them! sucks that these people are living there free when youre probably paying high rent or mortgage..
