Yesterday the Slope Park Playground reopened in Greenwood Heights. Work on the park, at 6th Avenue and 18th Street, began last spring. The Parks Department installed multi-level decks, new playground equipment, and water features. South Slope News attended the ribbon cutting ceremony, as did Councilwoman Sara Gonzalez, Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Kevin Jeffrey, and lots of families. The park was supposed to open this spring, but due to some design challenges and Hurricane Sandy it got pushed back to this summer. The restoration cost $1,631,000. Check out lots more photos of kids enjoying the new space at South Slope News.
