74 kent street greenpoint

Developer Caerus Group is in contract to buy one of the landmarked Eberhard Pencil Factory buildings at 74 Kent Street in Greenpoint for “close to” $8,000,000, according to a company spokesperson. They plan to restore the vacant building and convert it to office space, much like the Kickstarter HQ next door at 58 Kent.

The previous owner tried to convert building to residential and office space a few times in recent years, but kept running into snafus with Landmarks. In October, he put the three-story building up for sale for an unknown price.

The red brick factory was built in 1904 in the German Renaissance Revival style, according to the LPC designation report.
