Greene-Ville Garden, the organic grocery store below The Clermont, is finally open. (It gained serious momentum last month.) According to a press release from The Clermont, the specialty store stocks organic produce, deli selections, and fresh cut flowers. There’s also a daycare center slated to open in the ground floor space in February. Has anyone stopped into the grocery store yet? GMAP

  1. Actually, it’s exactly like Fresh Garden, because it’s owned by the same people. If you shopped a lot, you’d notice; they prep the veggie bags for you in the most useful way. They have a wide selection of fresh herbs that is always completely stocked. They have a great selection of nuts and dried fruits. For a tiny store, these guys are remarkably well-stocked. It’s managed well. And I agree with the above that the people are friendly. Great to have ’em!

BTW Fresh Fanatic is getting much better.

  2. I got a slice of the chocolate cake on Sunday and it was heavenly! I can’t wait to try some of the other pastries. The prices on the organic stuff is very reasonable, you pay for convenience and the people that work there are always very nice. Certainly beats any Pathmark experince I’ve ever had.

  3. Pretty much just like the place on Fulton @ S. Eliot (Fresh Garden, maybe?), but with a lot more space and a pleasing layout. Organic things, overpriced compared to, say, Fairway (but nothing like the nail in the coffin of Ft Greene, Provisions). Nothing exciting, but nothing bad — and nothing new, these days.

  4. Well the UWS has arrived in FG. The folks at Greene-Ville Market have certainly taken it to another level with their deli/bodgea/organic market that’s for sure.

I probably won’t shop there because it’s too far of a walk if I’m just heading out for bananas or something but if I’m back down that stretch of Myrtle on my way home I might stop in to see more of what they’ve got. I’ll probably just stick with Mr. Coco’s for my fruit and veggie needs.

I will say this about the Greene-Ville Market. They’ve got a much better layout than Fresh Fanatic and the staff inside the store are one heck of a lot friendlier than the folks who work the salt mines at Associated.
