Green-Wood Cemetery and Trees New York are joining together for a day of tree stewardship to keep the trees of Sunset Park healthy. In addition to getting their hands dirty with some weeding and watering, participants will pick up tips on tree bed gardening and improving soil conditions. Green-Wood’s own horticultural staff will be leading the training to inspire community members to care for the roughly 6,500 street trees in the surrounding neighborhood.
The program takes place on Saturday, August 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will start at 37th Street and 9th Avenue. The training is free but registration is required. For more information visit the Green-Wood event page here or the NYTrees registration page here.
