Savor the balmy evenings of summer with a dash of atmosphere and vintage entertainment at Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery.
For two nights in July the historic cemetery will host a colorful extravaganza with 19th century style. Bring a picnic and enjoy contortionists, fire eaters, floats, musicians and other amusements from the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus. ‘A Night at Niblo’s Garden’ honors 19th century musical impresario William Niblo, who operated the famed entertainment hot-spot Niblo’s Garden in what is now SoHo.
Niblo also played host to stylish shindigs in Brooklyn, right in Green-Wood Cemetery. He commissioned a mausoleum near the Crescent Water and took full advantage of the scenic spot before he died in 1878, entertaining friends with picnics at his future burial spot.

The Crescent Water will be the center of activity again on Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. with an evening that Niblo himself might enjoy. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket and a picnic and settle in for a night of amusement.
Tickets are $35 for members of Green-Wood and the Brooklyn Historical Society and $40 for non-members. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here.
