Fulton Street is on a roll! After years of the retail along the Clinton Hill section of Fulton Street failing to keep up with the changing demographics of the neighborhood, there’s been lots of encouraging news lately. On the heels of word that the Greene Hill Food Co-op was moving ahead with plans to lock in a lease on Downing and Putnam and confirmation that the folks behind Franklin Park and Southpaw were backing a new bar at 925 Fulton Street (and don’t forget about the Japanese place teed up for the corner of Waverly) comes the news that a gourmet food shop will be opening at 903 Fulton Street, between Olivino and Just Taste It. Maybe this whole Fulton BID thing is having its desired effect! GMAP
on Yaffa: their fried chicken ROCKS too! And the guys in there are supernice!
Yafa coffee rocks, especially the iced coffee plus the food is great and I really like the guys that work there. Best bacon egg and cheese on a roll ever. But I agree about some strong yuppie coffee.
Fine, then can I come over at 7AM? 🙂
love this!
I make yuppie coffee in my house. It’s better than anything I have had outside and I am not lying…
I like Yafa’s coffee too. It’s great deli coffee and their deli stuff is good deli. But sometimes I want yuppie overpriced coffee. I could care less about having cheese, fish and produce around the corner… there are enough options in fairly close range for those (Met, Choice, Provisions, and my beloved Fresh Direct) — but give me yuppie coffee or — well, just give me yuppie coffee with half and half. In a paper cup with one of those cardboard things around it. And don’t make me walk farther than is seemly in my pajamas.
This is a happy thing. Old timers, new timers are going to welcome this. About coffee, I actually enjoy (spilling on myself ) the coffee from Yafa which I take down onto the subway. It’s not bad. And yes, 1842. A green grocer would be wonderful!!! OMG, I would be so happy. The Food Coop will be a nice thing, but I’m talking about place where you can pick up a couple of things near the train station early/late. The old timers tell me that the retail along this stretch was quite good one time, fell apart and now it’s coming back!!! Happy days!
and the soon to be creperie at the former Brown Betty spot (Grand just off Fulton)…
This is good.
It would also be nice to have a green grocer type place with lots of fruits and vegetables, like those places beside Sahadis on Atlantic Avenue. Nothing fancy required, just lots of fresh produce at reasonable prices.
Good coffee in the morning would be excellent.
