Trash Can Fires, Industrial Grit, Gas Guzzlers Blast Dumbo Back Into Past for Gotham TV Shoot
A block under the Manhattan Bridge got a gritty makeover for a shoot for the television show Gotham today.

A Dumbo block got a gritty makeover for the television show Gotham today. Fire burned in a trash can, atmospheric smoke wafted, and subdued extras layered up for a cold snap milled around under the Manhattan bridge on York Street.
The Fox crime drama follows the story of Detective James Gordon, played by star Benjamin McKenzie, of the Gotham City Police Department — aka the future Commissioner Gordon in the DC Comics Batman franchise.
The show is somewhat vague as to the exact time period in which the story takes place, but the scenes filming in Dumbo seemed inspired by 1970s and 1980s New York.
Boat-sized, gas-guzzling American cars such as a Grand Marquis and police cars with the Gotham City seal were scattered around the set.
