The public plaza outside the Dime Savings Bank and phase one of CityPoint—which the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership is calling simply Albee Square—is finally coming together. When we passed by this morning, workmen were putting the modular marble steps into place. The project, a rendering of which is provided on the jump, should be completed sometime next month, we’re told.
The B38s are now lumbering down Ashland Place from Dekalb with a pretty good hairpin to Fulton St.
The landscaping can probably be done in about a week.
Stonergut, New York City Transit reportedly built a mock-up out at Floyd Bennett Field and the drivers were able to make the turn but, yeah, I’m waiting to see it in action. Heck, I’m waiting for the return of the B38 period.
Brownstoner Dude: the plaza I saw yesterday is nowhere close to that rendering. Like, trees? Landscaping? No.
Waiting for that construction fence to go down for the B38 to go straight up Fulton St. again. Think that hairpin turn will actually work? I sort of doubt it.
Dude, the post is about the plaza not the building
“modular marble steps”??
I am counting the days…and let’s hope the MTA reroutes the B38 to it’s original route, all the way down DeKalb. What a pain in the ass it’s been for this bus to detour down Ashland Place 🙁
You’ve got to be kidding me. . . I was just there yesterday and the area is still a construction maze. Sure, there is a street, but it’s by no means close to finished. Plus, that building doesn’t have an inch of skin. On what planet does that kind of construction move that quickly? Give me a break.
