  1. Rah,rah, for the little guy in Brooklyn, Errol Lewis. In his wide eyed puff piece for downtown Bklyn development, he cites the future building of 9,548 units of market rate to luxury housing for the area, which does not include AY, while a very small bone of 430 units of subsidized/lower income housing is planned, and some of that is in Bed Stuy.

9,548 vs 430. That’s really pitiful. Errol – get some real perspective.

  2. One of the main reasons why downtown Brooklyn and the area around Vanderbilt Yards hasn’t developed well is because Ratner put in Metrotech and Atlantic Center, both large, horrifically designed structures that stifled accessibility through the area, while also failing to attracted tenants to PRIME brooklyn real estate. It boggles the mind why anyone would allow him another project in Brooklyn let alone something the size and impact of AY.

  3. I used to respect Errol Lewis – no more. Jobs? He’s kidding right? A few weeks ago there were several threads about the demolition of the bakery and it was pointed out that the people doing the work were not union. And yet, for all the promises made to the community, and setting up BUILD to train community people for union construction jobs, there was not a one who was union or from BUILD.

Yeah, Errol, the AY project is really getting off on the right foot in the community- I’m sure the car owners who’s vehicles were damaged because the demo idiots couldn’t be bothered with a protective (and legally required) scaffolding, are impressed too.
