a huge part of the reason there is a five fold increase in kids repeating a grade is cuz a lot of yuppie parents are doing it to their kids on purpose, thinking their kids will have an edge over the younger kids at an early age. which is really really stupid.
personally i think it’s just gonna make your daughter the first one to become a ho-bag in middle school. it might be more effective with boys tho with repeating a grade and having better success.
*rob*
Floyd Bennet Field, and the Jamaica Bay area in general, have so much potential. It is really quite beautiful, and would, under proper leadership, become one of the crown jewels of Brooklyn and NYC.
I miss drive-ins. We used to hide in the trunk to get in for free. LOL
His ‘visions’ always consist of something where he can ‘envision’ himself in front of a camera, cheesing like a damned fool, cutting a ribbon and trying to look/feel important. If there’s no photo op, there’s no Marty.
Marty Markowitz’s “VISION” for Floyd Bennet Field:
1. Flea Market
2. Drive-In Movie Theatre????
Embarrassing.
It all just makes me so angry. It’s become our culture in the US to spend time and money talking about stuff instead of doing something. More kids than ever before are can be classified as obese/morbidly obese. Why spend money doing something about it when you can just spend millions of govt. $$$ ‘researching’ just how fat they are? Tons of people are suffering due to a lack of access to healthcare. Why put money towards providing healthcare when you can spend millions of govt $$$ ‘researching’ just how sick they get/how much faster they deteriorate/die from the lack of healthcare access. In some respects, we are a nation of fools.
And Mr. B…what’s the deal with linking to stories that we’d have to pay to read??? (the WSJ article) Surely you can get a similar story from another source where your readers don’t have to pay to follow through to a full link for a story on storm cleanup!
It’s all a shitshow, Ishtar. A total shitshow.
Snaps, is that worse than one interventionist for every 60 schools? 🙁
